Everglades Fishing Charters Fishing Reports Feb/March 2014

BEAUTIFUL WEATHER AND GREAT FISHING

I think we have had the best winter in 15 years.  The fishing has been great....okay we have had some tuff days on the water but on the whole it has been a fantastic winter.
Don't look now but spring is around the corner and everyone is making their plans for their fishing experiences here in the Everglades National Park/10,000 Islands

Yes Fishing is good now and will continue to do so right on through till next winter.

We are already catching some of our Big Beautiful Spring Trout....so far on my boat the longest is a  25" with most in the 19-20' range making them fun to catch along with being great to eat that night for dinner.  Redfishing has been on and off depending on the wind of course but we usually catch our limit,  the Pompano are here also... nice big pompano up to 4 lbs, along with Mackerel, Bluefish, Black drum, Sheepshead, Sharks, etc.

Wow, spring will be here before we know it.  The schools of bait fish are pulling onto the flats now and the tarpon are starting to show up on the flats too.....the Cobia shouldn't be too far behind them.  What a thrill that is to have a huge tarpon inhale your bait while trout fishing and come flying out of the water shaking her head, throwing your hook back at you while waving good bye....or better yet you will get a good hook up and the fight is on to see who's going to win the battle.  Yes, it is possible to catch one of these monsters while trout fishing with trout tackle and you will have the battle of your life....your adrenalin will be pumped and your arms will ache with pain as you fight this mighty silver king and then after about an hour we will finally get her to the boat to take some pictures, give her a big pat on the back, saying thanks you, while reviving her to fight again another day.

While fishing for Redfish we are also catching Blackdrum and Sheepshead  around the islands and in the river mouths.  All three are good table fare along with being fun to catch.

The Big Snook should be moving in anytime now from offshore as the water warms up each day.
I personally can't wait to start catching these big girls.  What a challenge they are and very good to eat also.  Season opens on March 1st and it should be a good season at that.

So, what are you waiting for.... the fishing is great and the weather is beautiful.  Pick up that phone and make that call to Capt. Becky (239-695-2029) (captainbeckycampbell@gmail.com) and lets get you booked in for that fishing trip you have been dreaming of.

P.S.    For those who fish with me frequently know that I haven't been guiding for awhile because of back surgery....Well good news is that I have been released and am back on the water guiding again, which I missed so much....so come on down....the fishing is great and the weather is fantastic

Everglades Fishing Charters Fishing Reports Dec 2013

Wow,  Fishing has been great

The weather is still warm and the fish are in slow motion migrating to their winter homes. For us this is good as there are fish everywhere (inside islands, outside islands, back country, on the flats, off shore, near shore) everywhere. So no matter where your favorite spot is, there should be fish there. Today as I write this the wind is calm, the high was 81 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. Nice day on the water? you bet cha!!!

The cold fronts are starting to sweep downwards to South West Florida. With this is mind the fishing is starting to change. The good news is fishing is good. The water has cooled a little causing the fish to be more active while moving some of the migrating fish into this area. There is also a lot of bait-fish moving in. This is the time of year that we start catching what we call our mix bag. For the next few months we will be catching Red Fish in numbers. Some nice Snook, Fat Trout, Big Pompano (up to 4 lbs) Mackerel, Bluefish, even catch Cobia up on the flats while Trout fishing. We will also be catching Sheepshead, Black Drum, SnapperFlounder, Yellowtail Jacks, Lady Fish and Whiting. As usual I will be fishing on the flats, in the rivers, around the mangroves and along the beaches. This time of year with the occasional cold front passing is what determines where we fish and what we fish for. For example if we have a front come thru the night before your fishing trip, chances are that we won't be on the flats fishing for trout, as the front will cause the water to mud up and this usually results in a lot of fishing and not much catching. So we will want to go where we will do some catching. Maybe in the river mouths, maybe fish some of the deep holes, or maybe along the mangrove islands. Wherever and whatever it takes to put us on fish. Here in the Everglades National Park/10,000 Islands we have a lot of places to fish regardless of the wind and weather.

With the holidays just around the bend it is easy to forget to make your fishing plans until the last minute. This sometimes leads for disappointments when you can't fish with whom you want or when you want. Anyway, don't forget it is always a good idea to reserve your day as soon as you have an idea when you might want to fish.

P.S.    For those who fish with me frequently know that I haven't been guiding for awhile because of back surgery....Well good news is that I have been released and am back on the water guiding again, which I missed so much....so come on down....the fishing is great and the weather is fantastic

So, like I always say, what are you waiting for, pick up the phone and give me (Capt Becky) a call (239-695-2029) cause the weather is beautiful and the fishing is great.

Sorry about not having pictures, (been too busy catching and/or releasing fish) I will try and get some this week

Everglades Fishing Charters Fishing Report April 13, 2013

Great Fishing, No Crowds and Beautiful Weather

If you don't like the crowds that Spring Breakers/Easter brings but do enjoy fishing in the spring like weather before the heat of summer arrives.....now is the time to come down to the Everglades National Park/10,000 Islands.

The fishing is GREAT.  We had a nice mild winter along with a little rain..... add these two combos together and it makes fishing good....Why?? you might ask.  In my opinion it keeps the baitfish inshore while the little bit of rain we have had keeps the water flowing off the wetlands in which provide an abundant of food.

TARPON, TARPON, TARPON  yes the migration of TARPON have arrived and it looks like they are going to stay awhile. Everything is just the way they like it....Perfect water temperature, perfect air temperature and lots of baitfish around.  Us guides that are fishing for them are jumping a handful and landing a couple each morning.  Would you like to put yourself to the test to find out just how bad these big boys/girls are?  Come on down and we'll put you on one or more of these  monstersYou will find out why after you fight one you won't care to fight another one, at lease not till after your fishing partner catches his....They are one mean machine that just won't give up without a fight which includes drag screaming, bull dogging, leaping into the air (what a beautiful sight that is) and head shaking all in order to try and beat you.  If TARPON is on your list.....now is the time to make it happen and catch that SILVER KING....you won't be disappointed in this amazing beautiful fish.

SNOOK, SNOOK, SNOOK  yes, the big SNOOK have moved inshore to our outside islands.  We are catching them on the flats, around the mangroves, in the river mouths and on the outside points of the islands.  Fun to catch?  You bet they are.  Yes, the season is still closed but we can still catch them, just have to practice catch and release.

TARPON or SNOOK not on your game plan?  That's okay because we are catching lots of REDFISH, TROUT (nice size..with quite a few over 20+) some POMPANO, MACKEREL, BLUEFISH, LADYFISH, JACKS and the occasional COBIA.  The TRIPLE TAIL are still around but starting to get a little scares. On the whole Fishing right now is very good with a lot of action to keep everyone as busy as they want to be.

So....what are you waiting for....pick up that phone and give me (Capt Becky) a call 239-695-2029 because the fishing is great and the weather is just fantastic.  Now is the time to make your plans for that fishing experience of a lifetime here in the EVERGLADES NATIONAL PARK/10,000 ISLANDS.

 weeks away..........

Today as I write this the wind is calm, the high was 77 degrees while cloudy and overcast. Nice day on the water? you bet'cha!!!....... The cold fronts are slowly starting to sweep downwards to South West Florida. With this is mind the fishing is starting to change. The good news is FISHING is GOOD. ............The water has cooled a little causing the fish to be more active while moving some of the migrating fish into this area. There is also a lot of bait-fish moving in. This is the time of year that we start catching what we call our mix bag. For the next few months we will be catching REDFISH in numbers. Some nice SNOOK, FAT TROUT (three different species of trout), BIG POMPANO (up to 4 lbs) MACKEREL, BLUEFISH, even catch COBIA up on the flats while TROUT fishing. We will also be catching SHEEPSHEAD, BLACK DRUM, SNAPPER, FLOUNDER, YELLOWTAIL JACKS, LADYFISH and WHITING. Do you love eating Walleye....then you will love our WHITING. As usual I will be fishing on the flats, in the rivers, around the mangroves and along the beaches. Everglades Fishing Charters Fishing Report for Oct./Nov. 2012

Looks at the size of some of these fish......From MONSTER SNOOK to BABY TARPON....slot size REDFISH to keeper size TROUT....it's going to be a GREAT SEASON:
Rain.....Rain.....Rain......What a nice summer we have had, but looking forward to some cooler weather. Yes we have had a lot of rain this summer and I think that's a good thing. Ya see, everytime we have a rainy summer we have a fantastic season to follow. I think this is because it not only puts plenty of oxygen in the water but also flushes out all the small bait fish and larva for the bigger fish to feed on while lowering the water temperature a little....................So far we are catching lots of REDFISH (in the slot) along with some SNOOK, BABY TARPON, GOLIATH GROUPER, MACKEREL and TROUT just to name a few.. Speaking of TROUT....this year the FWC has decided to leave the TROUT season OPEN ALL YEAR. Yay, that's defiantly a big plus. As usually TROUT season closes in November and December....So we get to take home trout in Nov and Dec for some tasty meals. I especially like eating trout when the water temperature cools down as I think they taste better. The sad thing is they (FWC) have left snook season closed again until Sept 2013, Ugh...good news is we can still catch them, just have to release them....................If you are thinking about a fishing trip this season now is the time to make you winter fishing plans. We all know the holidays are getting close so we will have that on our minds with all the shopping, parties and family get togethers, so don't wait to long and miss out on that special day for your Everglades National Park experience of a lifetime.................... So like I always say....what are you waiting for. PICK UP the PHONE and CALL Capt Becky 239-695-2029 and come on down because the weather is fine and the Fishing is Fantastic

Everglade Fishing Charters Fishing Report for Jan. 2012

FANTASTIC FISHING AND BEAUTIFUL WEATHER

The fishing has been fantastic for the last few weeks, even the week the wind was blowing up to 25 mph the fishing was good. For the last few days the wind has laid back down finally and it is a beautiful day....high of 76 with easterly winds of about 5-10 knots...the rest of the week is suppose to be 2-7 knots...wow, can you believe this weather.

Anyway, we are catching a good mix bag of fish. Which is typical this time of year. Plenty of action on the flats for pompano, trout, bluefish, ladyfish, mackerel and flounder. Around the islands we are catching a nice number of snook, redfish, jewfish, jacks, ladyfish and snapper. We also caught a 23 inch Gag Grouper in the Islands. I had 2 couples fish with me a couple days ago, so we called the girls against the guys. Well, guess who won that day...The girls with a score of 24 to 23(not to bad for a half day charter). We had a hard time keeping track the day before so this day they brought a pencil and pad to keep score with. We actually caught 16 snook and Barb caught the biggest one (snook). These fish weren't monsters, but they are a lot of fun especially when they wanted to see who (guys or girls) could catch and land the most fish. Roberta caught the biggest fish over all being a 49 inch bonnet-head shark. She had a lot of fun catching that one. The guys did a good job keeping up with the girls and of course Jim says "I caught the best eating fish" with his 23" gag grouper. Chuck was having fun just being in the game catching fish and away from work.

Remember that fishing experience that you have been thinking and dreaming about, come on and pick up the phone, give me.... Capt Becky Campbell a call........ at 239-695-2029 and reserve that date cause the fishing is great and the weather is fabulous.
