Everglades Fishing Charters Fishing Reports Feb/March 2014

BEAUTIFUL WEATHER AND GREAT FISHING

I think we have had the best winter in 15 years.  The fishing has been great....okay we have had some tuff days on the water but on the whole it has been a fantastic winter.
Don't look now but spring is around the corner and everyone is making their plans for their fishing experiences here in the Everglades National Park/10,000 Islands

Yes Fishing is good now and will continue to do so right on through till next winter.

We are already catching some of our Big Beautiful Spring Trout....so far on my boat the longest is a  25" with most in the 19-20' range making them fun to catch along with being great to eat that night for dinner.  Redfishing has been on and off depending on the wind of course but we usually catch our limit,  the Pompano are here also... nice big pompano up to 4 lbs, along with Mackerel, Bluefish, Black drum, Sheepshead, Sharks, etc.

Wow, spring will be here before we know it.  The schools of bait fish are pulling onto the flats now and the tarpon are starting to show up on the flats too.....the Cobia shouldn't be too far behind them.  What a thrill that is to have a huge tarpon inhale your bait while trout fishing and come flying out of the water shaking her head, throwing your hook back at you while waving good bye....or better yet you will get a good hook up and the fight is on to see who's going to win the battle.  Yes, it is possible to catch one of these monsters while trout fishing with trout tackle and you will have the battle of your life....your adrenalin will be pumped and your arms will ache with pain as you fight this mighty silver king and then after about an hour we will finally get her to the boat to take some pictures, give her a big pat on the back, saying thanks you, while reviving her to fight again another day.

While fishing for Redfish we are also catching Blackdrum and Sheepshead  around the islands and in the river mouths.  All three are good table fare along with being fun to catch.

The Big Snook should be moving in anytime now from offshore as the water warms up each day.
I personally can't wait to start catching these big girls.  What a challenge they are and very good to eat also.  Season opens on March 1st and it should be a good season at that.

So, what are you waiting for.... the fishing is great and the weather is beautiful.  Pick up that phone and make that call to Capt. Becky (239-695-2029) (captainbeckycampbell@gmail.com) and lets get you booked in for that fishing trip you have been dreaming of.

P.S.    For those who fish with me frequently know that I haven't been guiding for awhile because of back surgery....Well good news is that I have been released and am back on the water guiding again, which I missed so much....so come on down....the fishing is great and the weather is fantastic
